ROOFING CONTRACT |
Following the Progress of a Major Roof Repair |
Occasionally major works are required to return a roof to a condition
whereby it keeps the interior of the
building wind
and water tight. This page shows what can happen when a property is left badly maintained over a long period of time. |
It is thought that this property dates originally from the late
eighteenth century and has been extended upwards
and to
the front since then. Under the powers of Section 24(1) of the City of Edinburgh District Council Order Confirmation Act 1991, a Statutory Notice was issued requiring the various owners to carry out the works necessary to bring the building up to standard. |
After the owners failed to carry out the works, the Council sought,
and were awarded, permission by the
Sheriff Court to
carry out the works following the normal tender and contract award procedures. |
Scaffolding was erected, and after inspection of the
roof, dry rot was discovered. The works was completed
in 2001. McKenzie
and Flynn Ltd gratefully acknowledge the help and assistance provided by The City of Edinburgh Council's Property Management Section within City Development, without whom this page would not be possible. |
